How finely filtered are ACSI Bulk Inks?
The liquid inks which ACSI Bulk Inks sells are classified into two categories:
Dye-based Inks
Our Dye-based inks are filtered to 0.2 microns absolute. This means that 99.99% of all particles larger than 0.2 microns are removed by our filtration system.
Pigmented Inks
Our pigmented inks are filtered to 0.45 microns absolute. This means that 99.99% of all particles larger than 0.45 microns are removed by our filtration system.
Explanation of Terms
The following terms are useful for comparing filtration claims from different manufacturers.
1 Micron - 1/1,000,000 of a meter, or 1/1000 of a millimeter.
Absolute - when discussing filters, "absolute" means removal of 99.99% of all particles larger than the designated filtration size. This means that only 1 in 10,000 particles remains.
Nominal - when discussing filters, "nominal" means removal of 98.5% of all particles larger than the designated filtration size. This means that about 1 in 67 particles remains.
