Frequently Asked Questions

  1. I need help. Who do I call?

Assuming you don't need 911, try 1-304-622-5086 and ask for Brian or Saundra Boley.

  2. What is your normal dress code?

Dress code? Where have you been? We don't have a dress code. Wear your comfortable jeans. And no, ladies don't have to wear dresses - jeans or slacks will be just fine. Innova is a gathering of friends, after all.

  3. Is there a nursery?

Not yet, but that's only because we don't have any infants yet. We have friendly, experienced nursery workers just waiting for you to show up -- give them something to do, will ya?

  4. Is there a Sunday School?

  5. How about mid-week services?

Wednesdays. Just what we offer will depend upon who shows up and what you want.

  6. What type of music do you play?

A mix of ancient, classical, old hymns, Southern Gospel, 1990's contemporary, and current Christian favorites.

  7. Will you ask for money?

Rarely. But not from visitors. That would be so-o-o-o impolite!

  8. What do you teach about tithes and gifts?

The church has expenses that must be covered, such as the rental on the room, printing costs, books, staff, etc. And those expenses are covered by donations from members of the church. How much? That's not a simple answer. Some people would have you give a standard 10 percent of your income. But that was under the Old Testament Law. The New Testament simply says that each person should put aside a certain percentage of their money each week based upon what they have decided with God for the ministry of the church. Some people may want to give a third or more of their income and have the ability to do just that. Others may only want to give a few dollars a week or may want to give more but be limited in what they are able to give. The amount depends upon your own committment to the purposes of the church, your family situation, and your prayer life. Sorry -- we told you that there was not a simple answer. You need to struggle with God to find your own personal giving level. Being a Christian means you need to learn to make wise decisions.

We do not conduct fund-raising programs for our church. Also, we do not accept special-purpose gifts. The reasoning is that it invariably starts ok but eventually leads to crass buying for recognition, such as "This pew provided by John and Mary Smith" or "The Jim Jones Punch Bowl". (Sorry, bad example!)

  9. How do you collect money?

You can mail it in to:

    Innova Church
    PO Box 4103
    Clarksburg, WV 26302

or you can put it in the basket found at each meeting. We usually don't pass a plate for offerings unless it is for a specific purpose. We feel you are mature enough to decide how to support the church and to remember to do so.

  10. I'm not a Christian. Will I be welcome?

Yes. Write down five questions you have about Christianity, bring them, and we'll try to answer them.

  11. I'm Catholic Christian. Will I be welcome?

Yes. We agree with Catholics on most points, and will be happy to talk with you about our few disagreements.

  12. I'm from China. Will I be welcome?

Yes. Write down five questions you have about Christianity, bring them, and we'll try to answer them.

  13. This is my first time to attend your church. What should I do?

  14. I want to help. How?

    Bless you!
